My research interests are focused in the field of Complex Systems. I am interested in stochastic, nonlinear and collective aspects of systems like solids, liquids, brain matter, cellular matter, etc. I graduated and obtained my PhD at the Universitat de Barcelona (1998-2004). Even though my research is mainly theoretical, I collaborate actively with experimental groups. My main line of research is Theoretical Neuroscience. I also work in Fracture Mechanics and I have contributed also in fields like convection in chemical systems (during my PhD thesis at the Universitat de Barcelona and the University of Copenhaguen), control of directional solidification (as a postdoctoral fellow at Northeastern University, Boston, EE.UU.) or modelling signalling in cells using boolean networks. After a postdoctoral position at Norteastern University (2005-2007), I am now Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
