My research centers on investigating hydrodynamic instabilities using
the methods of computational fluid dynamics and bifurcation theory.
In particular, I am interested in understanding pattern formation and
transition to turbulence in thermal convection problems and
geophysical flows. In recent years I have focused on multicomponent
mixtures with a particular emphasis on the Soret effect, which
accounts for thermally-induced diffusion. This line of research
explores how temperature and concentration gradients notably affect
heat and mass transfer processes within systems.
